Privacy Policy

The Buddha Wisdom app is provided by Buddha Wisdom as a freemium service and is intended for use as is.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Buddha Wisdom stores on your device, what information may be transmitted to Google and Firebase services, how that information is used, how long it may be retained, and how you can request deletion of server-side records.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, unless otherwise defined here.

Information Collection and Use

Buddha Wisdom stores some information locally on your device in order to provide core app features. This may include app settings, favorites, reading or course progress, meditation and reflection progress, onboarding answers, mood check entries, and similar app state.

Buddha Wisdom also uses Google and Firebase services that may receive certain technical and usage information from the app. Depending on the features you use, this may include an anonymous Firebase identifier, push notification token, device and platform details, app version, timezone and UTC offset, session and activity timestamps, crash information, and analytics events.

We use this information to operate the app, deliver notifications, restore and improve features, understand feature usage, troubleshoot crashes and performance issues, and support a reliable experience across devices and app versions.

Health and Wellness Data

Buddha Wisdom includes wellness-oriented reflection features, including mood or emotional check-ins. When you use these features, the app may process information such as your selected mood or primary emotion, optional context, and optional depth or intensity selections.

Mood check entries and related reflection state are primarily stored locally on your device. In addition, certain mood-related usage events and parameters may be transmitted to Firebase Analytics to help us understand feature usage and improve the experience. We treat this information as health or wellness-related data for disclosure purposes.

This data is used to generate mood-related reflections or insights, remember your progress, and better understand how the feature is used so it can be improved over time.

Anonymous Authentication and Server-Side Records

The app may create an anonymous Firebase Authentication identifier so it can support technical features such as notification delivery, activity tracking, and related service operations. This is not a user-facing account and does not require you to create a username or password.

If notifications or certain service features are enabled, the app may store technical records in Firebase services, including push notification tokens, device information, app version, timezone information, and activity timestamps. These records are used to support notifications, service reliability, and app operations.

Third-Party Service Providers

The app uses third-party services that may collect, process, or store data on our behalf. These services may include:

These providers may process data only as needed to provide their services, such as analytics, notifications, crash reporting, and backend infrastructure.

Log Data

Whenever you use the Service, in the case of an error in the app, we may collect data and information through third-party services such as Firebase Crashlytics. This log data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (IP) address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other diagnostic statistics.

Cookies

This Service does not use cookies directly inside the mobile app. However, third-party services used by the app or the related website may use cookies or similar technologies as part of their own services.

Data Retention and Deletion

Data stored locally on your device generally remains there until you clear app data, remove the app, or reset applicable settings inside the app.

Anonymous server-side technical records, such as push notification tokens, device information, activity timestamps, and related operational metadata, may be retained for up to 24 months after the last recorded activity unless a shorter retention period is required for operational, legal, or security reasons.

If you would like server-side records associated with your use of the app to be deleted earlier, you may request deletion by contacting supportbuddhawisdomapp@gmail.com. Because the app uses anonymous technical identifiers rather than a user-facing account, please include as much identifying context as you reasonably can, such as device platform, approximate dates of use, app version, or notification-related context.

We do not promise immediate deletion in all cases, but we will review and process deletion requests within a reasonable time.

Security

We value your trust in providing information to the app and use commercially reasonable means to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by us, so we strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children's Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it from our systems. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page.
